Mixed Cellulose Ester (MCE or MEC) syringe filters exhibit hydrophilic properties; MCE membranes are suitable for use with dilute acids, bases, as well as aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. MCE naturally has a low background of metals. Applications include: clarification of environmental water samples and biological specimens; sterilization of water samples, buffer solutions, and saline solutions; and preparation of chromatography samples
